Ever since the early days of Texan Independence, there has always been an appreciation for live theater and music in the Granbury area. Today, our small town community carries on these traditions and appreciation on a scale bigger than ever before.

Granbury Opera House

The Granbury Opera House has long been the centerpiece for performing arts in the area. First built in 1886, the building wouldn’t start having live shows until 1891. Over the decades since then, the reputation of the opera house waxed and waned and the building became used for other purposes for a large part of the twentieth century.
Recently, however, the Granbury Opera house was renovated to the tune of $3.5 million, transforming the building into a state of the art venue and is currently hosting a variety of performances, including tribute concerts, children’s productions, and the live theater shows of the Granbury Theater Company.
Granbury Theater Company
The Granbury Theater Company is a non-profit organization that is committed to cultivating the appreciation of theatrical productions among the community and to maintaining the opera house venue they perform in.
They host shows and productions throughout the year. Their popular series, “Broadway on the Brazos” is a continuing cycle of shows that consists of some of the most popular plays and musicals to hit the stage.
Here are some examples of the kind of shows you can expect to see on the schedule:

- Steel Magnolias
- The Music Man
- Hello Dolly!
The schedule also has a Christmas themed production during the winter holiday season, performing timeless classics such as:

On top of this, the Granbury Theater Company will also host visiting performers and troupes, such as illusionists and ballet companies.
If you are prone to being cold easily, it's recommended you take a jacket or sweater as the company keeps the performance hall cool for the sake of the performers.

If you are looking for a concert during your stay in our town, You’ll want to catch a show at New Granbury Live.
This venue is smaller than many other indoor concert halls. After all, they bill themselves as the “Most Intimate Music Venue in Texas”. What this means is that no matter where you sit in the 270-seat facility in downtown Granbury, you’re going to be fairly close to the action.
The schedule of events for New Granbury Live tends to be jam packed, filled mainly with live music events, both original music and tribute band covers. This said, music isn’t the only type of performance you’ll find here. From time to time, you can enjoy performances such as:

- Live readings/speeches from nationally recognized authors
